Today I’ve played around with onlinetvrecorder.com. Quite a nice tool. As I’m not owning a television or a TV-card this is the fitting replacement. There is a linux-encoder and it’s possible to watch the WMV-videos by using the win32codecs.
Quoting Jens Ohlig, it’s too much overhead to have a TV just to watch Arte or 3Sat. But nevertheless, the first record I’ve downloaded was an RTL-serie, so you know what I mean!

published on April 5th 2006, 01:09:11 amA good alternative recorder is SHIFT TV (www.shift.tv). There you get more channels (19) than with onlinetvrecorder (12) and you can watch your recordings online as videostream (download is also possible). The handling of SHIFT TV is very easy.
