Old hardware sux 1

I`m working with friends on setting up a rootserver. Now I`m working on the testserver to check out, if all work in that kind how we would like it.
But: it is a Pentium MMX. Have you ever installed Gentoo from stage1 on a such a computer? That`s not fun. More waiting than using :-)
But if it is finished, we will have a lot of fun.

actually I have. How’s your RAM? My stats are thus on the router I built out of one:

    Pentium Classic 133 (no MMX)
    96MB RAM (72-pin)
    3 NICs
    ~4GB HD

it would have taken forever. I highly recommend distcc. Hook that to my home network’s extra ~2.5 GHz of compilation and it wasn’t so bad. (1 athlon 1800+ XP, 1 P3 1GHz. the file server and laptops aren’t distccd servers)

if it’s gonna run headless make sure you look into a program called "screen" for when you do updates. it’s a godsend.
